Typically within 24–48 hours, ready to upload with your application. Add a printed copy by post if you need one.

What you receive

A translation built to be checked

Your translation is compared line by line with your passport and other documents, so it has to be complete and exact.

  • Every field translated, including the notes recorded on the document.
  • Names exactly as on the document, in the same spelling and order.
  • The translator's NAATI stamp and certification statement, showing who translated it and their NAATI credential.
  • Our letterhead with our address and telephone number, so the translation can be traced back to us.

Home Affairs' translation rules

The same rules apply across visa applications. Here is what Home Affairs says, and which documents each visa usually involves.

What Home Affairs asks for

Provide an English translation for every document that is not in English, together with the original document. In Australia, use a NAATI accredited translator; Home Affairs asks for the translator's NAATI practitioner number to be included. Missing translations may delay your application.

Original + translation

Upload both

Home Affairs asks for the original document and the English translation. Keep a clear colour scan of each original ready to upload next to its translation.

NAATI number

Translated in Australia

For translations made in Australia, Home Affairs asks for the translator's NAATI practitioner number. Our translations carry the translator's NAATI stamp, which shows it.

Every page

Including stamps and notes

We translate the whole document: annotations, seals, stamps and any apostille page, so nothing on the original is left unexplained.

What Home Affairs asks of a translation

From the Department of Home Affairs' guidance on documents in languages other than English:

  • Provide the original document together with the English translation.
  • In Australia, use a translator accredited by NAATI.
  • Include the translator's full name, address and telephone number, and qualifications and experience in the language, all in English.

Our certified translations carry the translator's NAATI stamp and certification statement, on our letterhead with our address and telephone number.

What to send us
  • The official document as a PDF, or a clear colour scan where every line is readable.
  • Every page in one file, including the apostille if there is one.
  • Any spelling your names must match on your passport, written in the comments box.
  • Each document as its own file, so each translation can be uploaded next to its original.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do translations need a NAATI translator?

For translations made in Australia, Home Affairs says to use a NAATI accredited translator and asks for the translator's NAATI practitioner number. Translations made outside Australia do not have to be NAATI accredited, but must include the translator's details.

Can you translate several documents for one application?

Yes. Upload them together and you get one quote for the set. Each document is translated separately so it can be attached to the right place in ImmiAccount.

How much does it cost?

Most certificates and identity documents are $85 per page, academic records $95 per page, and driver's licences start at $70. You see the exact price before you pay.

How long does it take?

Most single documents take 24 to 48 hours. Larger sets are quoted with a delivery time before you pay.
